Are you sitting comfortably?

Check you are comfortable to drive and the vehicle is safe before starting it.

Typical but all cars vary slightly. They only take seconds and should become a habit.

  1. Handbrake on
  2. Gears in neutral (or park if an automatic gearbox is fitted).
  3. Adjust the seat for comfort, pedals to the floor without stretching.
  4. Adjust the headrest near the top of your head.
  5. Fingers - top of steering wheel, elbows are slightly bent
  6. Interior mirror - outside mirrors - see clearly all around the car.
  7. Seat belts.
  8. Ignition, check lights out after few seconds. Any stay lit check car manual or garage.
  9. Enough fuel for your journey or money to pay for so some more?
